Posted by Troy Black on December 06, 2009 at 11:40:51: I'm just curious what
opinions are out there. This is not meant to open up a can of worms.
What an exciting points chase! There was more attention being paid to the
chase than I can ever remember. As exciting as it was and an election coming up,
I would like to know what the KCBS board candidates think about the current
points system. I know there are board members that think it needs to be changed,
divisions created for teams that don't compete as often as others, divisions
created for non-sponsored teams, which would leave a division of sponsored teams
with very few in it. (what exactly is considered a sponsored team and how would
you ever manage such distinction?)
There is a questionnaire on the KCBS web site that was sent out to it's
members regarding the TOY points system. One question that was not asked, which
I think was an important omission, was, "Do you compete? and if so, how many
contests per year?" My understanding is that most of the KCBS membership is made
up of judges, not competitors.
If you have a gripe with the current system, don't just bash it, offer up
your suggestions on how it could be better.
